Report: What senior Chelsea sources are now saying about signing Jadon Sancho this summer

In what is a critical stage of the current season for Chelsea, it seems the topic of Jadon Sancho’s future has come up again.

The whole situation is likely an extremely unwanted distraction for Enzo Maresca, who will be putting all his attention on the Blues’ attempts to qualify for the Champions League next season.

After Chelsea’s dramatic win over Fulham, it is now mathematically guaranteed that they will finish high enough in the league to trigger what was believed to be an obligation to sign Sancho from Manchester United this summer.

However, it has since emerged that they can pay their Premier League rivals a small fee to end the deal as just a single season loan.

This has left Chelsea at a crossroads. Sancho’s performances have improved recently, however it has to be said were pretty poor for most of 2025.

There are still a number of scenarios the Blues can carry out, including selling Sancho in the same window as signing him for profit.

With all options on the table, it has been reported by BBC Sport that top officials at Stamford Bridge have refused to rule out the possibility that they pay to not sign Sancho.

Signing Sancho could also mean that the Blues are unlikely to sign a big-name winger in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Chelsea’s alternative winger options

The Blues have been strongly linked with the addition of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

They have also been handed a boost in their efforts to sign him by the fact that he has reportedly asked to leave the Bundesliga side in the coming window.

The youngster seems to very much be following in the footsteps of Sancho for Dortmund, however will be hoping to find more immediate success when he makes his first move away than the England international did with United.

Alongside those rumours, the Blues also continue to be mentioned as admirers of Alejandro Garnacho, as well as Rafael Leao and Nico Williams.
