‘Very good in the dressing room’: Paul Merson tells PL club to sign £50m Chelsea star
Paul Merson thinks one of Chelsea’s fiercest rivals in English football should target a Blues star this summer.
A host of Chelsea players are set to be available, giving clubs a good opportunity to improve their respective squads.
In fact, it has already been claimed that Chelsea could sell up to eight names when the transfer market reopens.
Arrivals are also likely, though, with Chelsea keen on signing Dean Huijsen following his exploits at Bournemouth this season.

Paul Merson urges Leeds to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea
One player who looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer is Raheem Sterling. The winger is currently at Arsenal on loan and does not feature in Enzo Maresca‘s long-term plans.
Behdad Eghbali played a key role in Sterling’s departure last year and will want to sanction another exit for him, but this time a permanent one.
In terms of potential destinations, Arsenal legend Merson thinks Leeds should be all over the 30-year-old after winning promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “If I was a Leeds United, I would be looking at Raheem, experienced. They’re a young team, Leeds. They like to play attacking football, he’s very good in the dressing room, good team player.
“He’s got all the experience in the world, won Premier Leagues. For me, that wouldn’t be a bad move for Leeds and for Raheem Sterling.”
Sterling arrived at Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 in a £50m deal. He was Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s first signing, but he has failed to deliver for the Chelsea owners.
While Leeds are yet to actually register any interest in Sterling, they do seem to have another Blues player on their radar.

Leeds interested in Djordje Petrovic
Right now, Djordje Petrovic is probably a way more likely signing for Leeds than Sterling.
It is thought that Petrovic is an option for Leeds as they prepare to enter the market ahead of what is likely to be a very tough 2025/26 Premier League campaign for them.
Statistically, Petrovic has been one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season, but Chelsea have Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders all on their books. It means there could be an opportunity for Leeds to sign the Serbia international from their fierce rivals.
