‘Cannot believe’… Fulham fans are all in agreement over club’s pursuit of Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling
Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling could be making the short trip from Stamford Bridge to Craven Cottage this summer.
Fulham are one club who are said to be interested in signing Sterling, who remains out of the first-team picture at Chelsea.
Napoli have also been linked with Sterling, a player whom Antonio Conte is familiar with.
While Conte is yet to manage the 30-year-old, he came up against him on several occasions during his time managing in the Premier League.
Fulham fans against Raheem Sterling move
If Fulham fans have it their way, Sterling will be joining Napoli or another outfit instead of their club.
Plenty of Fulham supporters have taken to social media to make it clear that they do not want to see the England international at Craven Cottage next season.
One Fulham fan is surprised by the Cottagers’ interest in Sterling, saying: “Are we really that stupid? Sterling, really? We are going down next year, then.”
Another shared that sentiment and said: “Genuinely cannot believe the numbers being thrown about for this! £20m. Praying we go nowhere near him, we’re talking about a player who has been run into the ground since the age of 16! His legs aren’t there any more, never mind his mentality. What are you doing, Fulham?”
One Fulham fan went as far as to say that he might cancel his season ticket if Sterling is signed! “Might cancel my season ticket if we spend £20m on Sterling.”
Another supporter on X did not have too much to say, simply posting: “No thanks.”
One other fan cannot even imagine the club spending £20m on Sterling. “Surely not even Khan Jr and Alistair Mackintosh are stupid enough to sanction £20m for a washed up Sterling?”
Another thinks they deserve anything bad that happens to them if Sterling is actually bought. They said: “£20m! If we pay this, we deserve everything we get.”
It is quite clear, then, that Fulham fans do not want Sterling. Juventus supporters do not want Sterling either, also making that point apparent on social media.
It comes after reports claimed that Juventus have Sterling on their radar.
What Raheem Sterling is willing to do to secure Fulham move
While Fulham fans may not be too keen on the idea of Sterling linking up with Marco Silva’s side, it is a move that the player himself seems to be interested in.
Amid Fulham’s pursuit, it has been reported that Sterling is willing to take a pay cut in order to join Chelsea’s west London rivals.
A switch to Craven Cottage would, of course, allow Sterling to remain in the capital, which is something that he appears to be keeping in mind.
