Levi Colwill says one Chelsea player has really shocked him in Club World Cup, ‘I didn’t realise how good’

Levi Colwill has delivered a glowing verdict on one Chelsea teammate just ahead of the Club World Cup final.

The Chelsea squad is looking extremely strong in this moment, and that’s why they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Club World Cup on Sunday.

Blues centre-half Levi Colwill, 22, was unable to play in the semi-final victory over Fluminense due to a suspension. However, the English defender is fit and available to return to the starting line-up against PSG.

Gary Lineker has noticed Colwill hugely improve as a player in recent times, but he’s now about to put that to the test against elite opposition.

Levi Colwill shines light on Joao Pedro

Even though Joao Pedro only joined Chelsea from Brighton at the start of July, he’s quickly made a very positive impression on everyone associated with the club. Of course, it helped that he scored two stunning goals on his first-ever start for the Blues in the recent semi-final win.

Speaking ahead of the Club World Cup final, Colwill has praised new Chelsea teammate Pedro by explaining he’s only realised just how good he is after getting to train with him.

Colwill told Hayters TV: “I think he’s an amazing player. I watched him at Brighton and I’ve known him since he was at Watford when everyone was talking about him.

“To see him here shows how amazing he is. I didn’t realise how good he is until you train with him and see him on the pitch. Top, top player.”

After joining from Brighton this summer, Pedro has quickly won over Chelsea supporters, along with teammates, with his eye-catching performances at the Club World Cup.

Fluminense star Thiago Silva described Pedro as “special” after playing directly against the new Chelsea star. Even though the Brazilian forward played as a No.9 in the semi-final victory against Fluminense, he also has the versatility to play in wide areas or a bit deeper as a playmaker.

It feels like a huge benefit that Pedro will go into the 2025/26 campaign having already embedded himself into the Blues squad during the summer tournament.

Tosin Adarabioyo adds to Joao Pedro praise

Tosin Adarabioyo, 27, is another Chelsea defender who has been instantly impressed by Pedro since his arrival at the club.

Tosin said via Chelsea’s official website: “Joao’s settled in really well and his two goals in the semi-final were both incredible,’ added the defender. ‘You can see that he’s got amazing quality and will really add something to the group.

“We’re really pleased he’s here with us in America, helping the team and as I said he’s settled into the group so well already.”

If he can shine in the Club World Cup final against PSG, it would cement an amazing start to his Blues career. The real test will come when next season begins, though.

Pedro dreams of starting for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, and the best way to achieve that goal is by shining in Chelsea colours.
