Newcastle fans make feelings absolutely clear to club after links with Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle United could make a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson this summer.
Newcastle were linked with Jackson earlier this month, and fresh reports about a potential switch to St James’ Park have now emerged.
It comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexander Isak, who is thought to be seeking a new challenge.
If that is something that Newcastle allow him to pursue and the 25-year-old ends up moving on, then it looks like Jackson could replace him.

Newcastle fans don’t want Nicolas Jackson
It is not hard to understand why the Magpies would be interested in signing Jackson. The Senegal international has Premier League experience and is seemingly available.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Chelsea have slapped an £80m price tag on Jackson. It is unlikely that Newcastle would pay that much for Jackson, which will please supporters, who do not appear to be too keen on the idea of him joining their club.
One Newcastle fan responded to the rumour on X, saying: “Nicolas Jackson a Newcastle target, our recruitment team is embarrassingly desperate at this point.”
Another Newcastle supporter said: “If we sell Isak and sign Jackson, then it will go down as the worst window ever and sheer incompetence by the club.”
One user on X described Jackson as a “liability”. “Sorry like, there is absolutely no way we’re after Jackson. He is an absolute liability and no way would we pay the money Chelsea are after.”
Another Newcastle fan went as far as to say that they would rather sign no one! “I’d rather sign no one and put [William] Osula up front alone all season than give Chelsea crazy money for Nicolas Jackson.”
Another Newcastle supporter shared a very similar sentiment, saying: “I’d rather have Callum Wilson in a new pair of Levis upfront than see Jackson anywhere near the club.”
For one Newcastle fan, Jackson would be nothing more than a panic buy. “Telling you now, Nicolas Jackson is the most panic buy you will ever see.”
Manchester United have also been linked with Jackson. In fact, it has been reported that Jackson’s agent has held talks with United over a potential move to Old Trafford.

Nicolas Jackson and Alexander Isak’s 2024/25 season stats compared
You cannot blame Newcastle fans for feeling a little bit underwhelmed over the prospect of Jackson replacing Isak.
Jackson is nowhere near as polished as Isak and their stats from last season show that.
For example, Isak outscored his potential successor in the Premier League and had a significantly better xG. Simply put, he was the more clinical out of the two by some distance, though the Sweden international did play more minutes.
| Player | League games | Minutes | Goals | Assists | xG | xG difference |
| Nicolas Jackson | 30 | 2,241 | 10 | 5 | 13.25 | -3.25 |
| Alexander Isak | 34 | 2,774 | 23 | 6 | 21.32 | 1.68 |
The striker market is not great right now, though, and Newcastle do not have the same kind of pull that Chelsea and their other rivals have. With that in mind, Jackson may be the best option they can sign.
