RB Leipzig ask for £40m Chelsea star as Blues push to complete Xavi Simons signing - journalist
Chelsea’s path to signing one of their top transfer targets could be about to get a lot clearer as his current club are pushing to bring in their own Blues player.
Xavi Simons has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent days, with the Blues still looking for more attacking reinforcements.
Despite the instant impact Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have made, as well as the excitement of Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens, they are looking to add the Dutchman to their list of options.
Simons has chosen Chelsea over Arsenal, who are also reported to be keen on signing him after bringing in Noni Madueke already this summer.

RB Leipzig want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka after learning of Chelsea’s interest in Xavi Simons
The Blues are likely going to have to rely on player sales in order to spend the money required to sign the attacker, with one of the players they are keen to sell being Carney Chukwuemeka.
The former Aston Villa man is a long way out of Enzo Maresca’s plans at Stamford Bridge, and spent the second half of last season at Borussia Dortmund.
Another move to Germany could be on the cards for Chukwuemeka, however this time it is Leipzig that have made a move to sign him.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the Bundesliga side are keen to bring in the youngster, after learning that Chelsea are pushing for Simons.
He said: “RB Leipzig are now pushing to sign Carney Chukwuemeka. Leipzig have opened talks over the 21 y/o central midfielder from Chelsea. Further steps are planned for Wednesday.
“Leipzig have now also been informed that Chelsea want to sign Xavi Simons. RB are prepared to sell. A verbal agreement between Xavi and Chelsea is close, but not 100% done yet.”

Chelsea have new plan for Chukwuemeka this summer
After starting just one game for Chelsea in the first half of the season, the Blues were happy to loan the 21-year-old out for the rest of the campaign.
Dortmund were keen on another loan for Chukwuemeka, however Chelsea seem to have decided they do not wish to go down that route again.
Instead, Chelsea are insisting that Chukwuemeka leaves permanently this summer, potentially putting Leipzig in pole position to secure his signature.
With the Blues very keen on Simons too, it is clear that a deal can be done between the two sides that appeases both parties this summer.
