Thiago Silva shares who he will be supporting out of Chelsea and PSG in the Club World Cup final

The Club World Cup final between Chelsea and PSG will see the meeting of two sides who Thiago Silva has featured for in the past.

The 40-year-old was dumped out of the competition at the semi-final stage at the hands of Enzo Maresca’s side, who won 2-0 thanks to Joao Pedro’s brace.

Silva was clearly heartbroken at the end of the game after Fluminense had enjoyed a sensational tournament. He swapped shirts with Trevoh Chalobah after the game.

As Chelsea sweat on the fitness of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia ahead of the final, the Blues will go into the game as underdogs after their opponents were crowned Champions League winners just under two months ago.

Thiago Silva shares who he is supporting in Club World Cup final

Silva has made his admiration for Chelsea clear in the past. It wasn’t until he joined the London club in the twilight of his career that he was able to finally get his hands on the top honour in Europe back in 2021.

While he admitted to GE Globo that he would be supporting Chelsea if Real Madrid had reached the final, he did say that he would not be able to pledge his backing to either side who did make the final.

He said: “I now hope Chelsea can do well in the final, regardless of who they face. If it’s Paris Saint-Germain, my heart will be divided. If it’s Real Madrid, I’m definitely rooting for Chelsea. Now it’s time to lift our heads, wish João Pedro luck, and move on.”

Chelsea’s previous record against PSG

Chelsea have been involved in some dramatic games against PSG in the past, with all of them before Sunday coming in the Champions League.

Demba Ba enjoyed his favourite Chelsea moment when he scored late to knock the Parisians out in 2014, winning the tie on away goals.

However, there have been some low points too. One of those was handed to them by Silva, whose extra time goal knocked the Blues out the year after.

Chelsea have only won two games in 90 minutes in eight attempts against PSG, drawing three and losing another three.
