Frank Leboeuf says whether Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson would be a good signing for Newcastle
Even though Nicolas Jackson is currently training with Chelsea during pre-season, his future is still very much up in the air if you pay attention to the transfer rumour mill.
Nicolas Jackson has had two seasons so far at Chelsea, scoring 30 goals in 81 games across all competitions. The centre-forward has proven his obvious quality when leading the line for the Blues, but the arrival of attackers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap at Stamford Bridge this summer feels quite telling.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano expects Jackson to leave Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes amid interest from Newcastle United.
Earlier this summer, Jackson was open to joining Manchester United. However, Romano claims via X that Man Utd are now on the verge of bringing RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko to Old Trafford.

Frank Leboeuf suggests Newcastle should avoid Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle have been at the heart of the transfer window so far because of the Alexander Isak saga, as the 25-year-old striker is heavily linked with Liverpool.
Apparently, Newcastle have held preliminary talks about Jackson because the Chelsea forward is on their radar.
But according to Frank Leboeuf, Jackson would be a massively underwhelming signing at St James’ Park.
When discussing the idea of Jackson joining Newcastle, Leboeuf told ESPN: “I don’t think he’s going to fill the hopes that the Geordies have for this season in the Champions League. I have big doubts about his potential to make people forget [Alexander] Isak if Isak has to go. I was expecting somebody else.”

How much is Nicolas Jackson worth?
While Jackson may not be the finished article yet, he’s proven he can provide a steady supply of goals at a big club. The 24-year-old attacker has great technique and work rate, plus he’s got time on his side to develop further.
If the Senegal international can sharpen up his finishing, we don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe he can score 20 goals per season moving forward.
TalkSPORT reports that Chelsea are open to selling Jackson for the right price, which they feel is in the region of £80m. In fairness, he’s still on a long-term deal with the Blues that runs until 2033.
With Pedro and Delap arriving at Stamford Bridge, Jackson’s sale would make sense for the right fee.
