Major update in Chelsea's pursuit to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig - journalist
Chelsea have been chasing what could well be their last permanent signing of the summer, and they may have just had a breakthrough.
The Blues have been pushing to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, however the Benjamin Sesko and Manchester United saga is delaying Chelsea from completing a deal.
The Dutchman has made it clear that he wants the move to Stamford Bridge, and Simons has missed training with Leipzig in an attempt to push through a deal.
Chelsea seem to be firmly at the front of the queue for his signature, despite previous interest this summer from the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea agree deal to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig
Despite weeks of serious interest, it was thought that there had been no breakthrough between the two clubs, however it looks as if things have taken a turn.
Journalist Orazio Accomando has stated that there is now an agreement between the two clubs for a fee of around £60m.
He said: “Total agreement between Chelsea and Leipzig for Xavi Simons for approximately 60M pounds. For the playmaker, a contract is ready until 2032. Deal concluded, transfer to be finalized only from a bureaucratic perspective.”
Chelsea have already added Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap to their attack, and there are reports that Alejandro Garnacho could still be brought in before the window closes.

Leipzig want a number of Chelsea players
As soon as Chelsea’s interest in Simons became apparent, reports began to spread that the Bundesliga side were willing to bring in a number of Blues as Simons looked set to depart.
Leipzig are keen on Carney Chukwuemeka, however it looks as if Borussia Dortmund are the heavy favourites to secure that deal.
Reports have recently stated that Leipzig are fans of Tyrique George, who would be open to leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis after seeing their spending spree this summer.
It doesn’t look as if either deal will be crucial to Simons going the other way, however would certainly help Chelsea as they look to complete player sales before the end of August.
