Chelsea prospect with zero first-team appearances trains with England senior squad
Chelsea’s talented youngster was invited to join training with England’s senior squad on Friday. Even though it’s not an official senior call-up, it’s a fantastic step and experience for the Blues prospect.
The Chelsea academy continues with its relentless conveyor belt of exciting footballers, producing so many big names over the years.
Blues captain Reece James, who came through the academy system at Cobham, was the only Chelsea inclusion when Thomas Tuchel named his latest England squad for the current international break. Hopefully, he can make an impact in upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra (6 September) and Serbia (9 September).
Incidentally, Darren Bent’s strongest England XI includes both James and Cole Palmer.

Chelsea’s Ted Curd joins England training
Chelsea goalkeeper Ted Curd, 19, was named in England’s Under-20s squad during this international window.
However, England confirmed via X that the teenage prospect joined Tuchel’s senior group for training on Friday.
Later on Friday, Curd was an unused substitute for England’s U20s side during their 2-1 defeat against Italy. However, it must have been a real treat training alongside high-profile goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and James Trafford in the senior camp.
Curd hasn’t made his first-team appearance yet for Chelsea, the club he’s been with since signing as an Under-9, but he’s definitely someone to watch out for in the coming years. The closest he came was featuring in Chelsea’s Conference League matchday squad against Djurgarden last season.

Impressive start for Chelsea’s U21s
It looks like Curd has cemented his position as first-choice keeper for Chelsea’s Under-21s side, playing all three Premier League 2 fixtures so far this season.
| Fixture | Minutes played | Saves | Accurate passes | Match rating |
| Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea | 90 | 0 | 25/28 (89%) | 6.1 |
| Newcastle 0-5 Chelsea | 90 | 3 | 34/42 (81%) | 7.8 |
| Chelsea 3-1 Manchester City | 90 | 3 | 55/63 (87%) | 6.6 |
The goalkeeper position is one that has been uncertain at Stamford Bridge for several years, so it would be a huge help for a top-class shot-stopper to emerge from the academy.
