Geovany Quenda impresses for Portugal Under-21s again
On Tuesday, Portugal secured a 2-0 away victory against Scotland in an Under-21 European Championship qualifier.
The versatile winger, who started on the right flank, tormented the Scottish backline. His standout moment was a glorious assist after cutting infield and delivering a wicked cross with his left foot into the penalty area.
It’s now four goals and five assists in nine caps for Portugal’s U21s team. Even though he’s been drafted into the senior team before, he’s still waiting for his debut at that level.
Chelsea have been hailed for signing Quenda because those in youth football have been raving about him for a long time.
Without a doubt, the Portuguese speedster looks like a future star with his attributes. It’s exciting to think how good he could be by the time he moves to West London next season to join up with the likes of Estevao Willian and Cole Palmer.

Portuguese media hail Geovany Quenda
It is no surprise that the Portuguese media are very excited about Quenda, the rising star with so much potential.
After the Portugal U21s win against Scotland, Portuguese publication A Bola wrote: “And when you look at this Portugal team, you see so much talent! You see Mateus Fernandes, who knows everything about the game. You see Geovany Quenda, who does whatever he wants with the ball…
“Facing a very tight opponent, defending with 10 men behind the ball and only the striker a little further forward to try to exploit the counterattack, Geovany Quenda managed to find a space that seemed so large that it allowed the diminutive Rodrigo Mora to open the scoring in the 20th minute, with a header between the Scottish centre-backs.”
Former Premier League star Nani has tipped Quenda for big things, and Chelsea supporters must be so excited to see more from the teenager.
