Nicolas Jackson opens up on relationship with Enzo Maresca after 'sad' Chelsea exit
Nicolas Jackson has been discussing his Stamford Bridge exit and Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
While the Blues tried to keep hold of him following Liam Delap’s injury, Jackson managed to get his move to Bayern Munich in the end.
The striker joined Bayern on deadline day, deciding to leave Chelsea after the club’s decision to sign both Delap and Joao Pedro.
That may not be the only reason why he chose to depart, though. It has also been claimed that Jackson became unhappy with criticism from fans.

Nicolas Jackson respects Enzo Maresca
Once Chelsea signed Delap and Pedro, Jackson had become the team’s third-choice striker, with Maresca preferring the two new additions over the 24-year-old at the Club World Cup.
However, there are no hard feelings between Jackson and Maresca, which the former made obvious in a recent interview.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Jackson said: “Football is full of cycles. Sometimes things don’t go as they should, and that’s part of the game. I respect coach Maresca; I learned a lot from him; he has his own ideas and style.
“I just needed something different at this stage of my career. I have no regrets, just gratitude for my time at Chelsea.”
Following Delap’s injury, Maresca probably wishes that he had Jackson now. Instead, the Chelsea manager will have to rely on Marc Guiu.
The Spaniard has been recalled from his loan at Sunderland to support Pedro while Delap remains on the sidelines. It is thought that Maresca appreciates Guiu’s “intensity, hunger and passion”, which Chelsea fans could get to see next Saturday when their team takes on west London rivals Brentford.

Nicolas Jackson sad to leave Chelsea
Jackson pushed for a move to Bayern, refusing to give up on a transfer to the German giants when Chelsea tried to call things off.
Even so, the Senegal international revealed that he was sad to leave Stamford Bridge.
“At the same time, I was a little sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans,” Jackson said. I experienced so many strong emotions there: we won the Conference League and the Club World Cup.”
Jackson faces a swift reunion with Maresca and Chelsea, with Bayern facing the Blues in the Champions League later this month.
Despite being on loan, the former Villarreal man will get the opportunity to play against the Conference League holders. UEFA rules do not prohibit teams from fielding loanees against their parent clubs. It will make Chelsea’s tie with Bayern all the more intriguing.
