Chelsea fans insist Enzo Maresca must give player his first start this season vs Liverpool
Enzo Maresca’s team selection will be extra intriguing when Chelsea take on Liverpool this weekend because he’s attempting to juggle several injuries within the squad.
Chelsea host rivals Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League, which is their final match before October’s international break.

If the Blues want to stop a run of back-to-back league defeats, they will need to show much better discipline. Remarkably, Chelsea have three red cards in their previous four matches across all competitions.
Head coach Enzo Maresca knows he will have to come up with a result without the likes of Cole Palmer and several key defenders due to injury. Chelsea were warned about the higher risk of injuries to their players because of such a busy summer with the Club World Cup.

Chelsea fans demand Romeo Lavia starts vs Liverpool
Blues fans on X are crying out for Romeo Lavia, 21, to come into the starting line-up to face Liverpool on Saturday.
Without a doubt, the Belgian midfielder is a supreme talent when he’s on the pitch. He’s had so many injury problems since his arrival from Southampton in 2023, though.
This season, Lavia’s only appearance was a brief cameo in last weekend’s league defeat to Brighton. He was an unused substitute in the midweek Champions League victory against Benfica, too.
Here are Chelsea fans on X urging Maresca to name Lavia in the XI at home to Liverpool.
One fan wrote: “If Lavia starts against Liverpool, we beat them.”
“Lavia is a must start in this game for me,” another commented.
One supporter posted: “A game that Maresca would certainly start Lavia if he were even half-fit.”
“Lavia start vs Liverpool is needed,” another said.
Lavia enjoys playing with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, so could we see the three of them start together in a formidable midfield trio against Liverpool?
With Blues midfielder Andrey Santos unavailable against Liverpool, Maresca has a big choice to make in the centre of the park.
If available, Lavia could be a no-brainer to start this weekend because the midfield battle will be so crucial. We’ve seen that the deep-lying playmaker can operate effectively alongside Caicedo and Fernandez as well.
However, the glaring issue is that Lavia has barely kicked a ball this season, so it would be a considerable ask to throw him into a game of this magnitude.

What Cole Palmer predicted about Romeo Lavia
Back in May 2025, Palmer tipped Lavia to become one of the world’s best midfielders.
Palmer commented on Lavia: “I think he’s one of the best midfielders I’ve played with, to be honest. Everyone’s not seen it because he’s been injured, but obviously I knew him at [Manchester] City, and I think everyone will realise soon. I think he will be one of the best midfielders in the world.”
Even though Lavia had only made 24 appearances for Chelsea since he joined, fans know he’s a supreme talent with incredible potential. How much longer can they wait for him amid these regular injury problems, though?
We’ve seen Reece James overcome injury problems to enjoy an impressive 2025 so far. It would be great for Chelsea and the player himself if Lavia can do the same!
