Chelsea fans make their feelings on Liam Delap clear after Emanuel Emegha’s brace for Strasbourg
Chelsea’s Liam Delap and Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha are having very contrasting seasons.
Following his decision to announce that he would be joining Delap at Stamford Bridge next year, Emegha has caused some controversy at Strasbourg.
However, the 22-year-old has still been among the goals this season, netting twice against Lille on Sunday.
Delap, on the other hand, has failed to score after being out for two months injured, and it is fair to say that some Chelsea fans are not going to afford the Englishman any patience.
Chelsea fans want Emanuel Emegha to replace Liam Delap
Delap was recently sent off against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and it looks like Chelsea supporters were far from impressed with that and what they have seen from the striker in general so far. They are now calling for Emegha to replace him.
Following his brace in Strasbourg’s victory over Lille, one Chelsea fan said on the social media platform X: “Emanuel Emegha is far better than Liam Delap.”
Another said: “Delap will hold the bench. He’ll need prayers to start…”
One other Chelsea supporter posted: “Emegha, you demon, can’t wait to see you instead of Delap.”
Another Chelsea fan hopes the club can bring the deal to sign Emegha forward. “CFC need to bring forward the Emegha move. Delap is nowhere close to the technical level we need.”
One user on X thinks the Blues should actually send Delap to Strasbourg. “Watching Emegha tonight, we might need to loan Delap to Strasbourg next summer.”
Another thinks it could even be time for him to return to Ipswich Town! “Emegha cooking, Delap, get ready to go back to Ipswich Town, brother.”
It is early days, but plenty of Chelsea supporters are already writing off Delap, who must now make it his mission to prove them wrong.
Liam Delap’s and Emanuel Emegha’s 2024/25 seasons compared
Delap has not played too much football this term, so it would be unfair to compare his current stats to Emegha’s.
Looking at last season, then, their numbers were quite similar. For example, Delap scored 12 goals in the Premier League, while Emegha managed to register 14 in Ligue 1.
