What Alan Smith noticed about Alejandro Garnacho instantly in Chelsea’s 3-0 win vs Wolves

Alejandro Garnacho gave former forward Alan Smith a very good feeling early into Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Garnacho was at the heart of Chelsea’s victory, assisting two goals in the second half.

The winger has managed to find a bit of form, having also scored in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Qarabag in the Champions League during the week.

In the Wolves win, Estevao Willian also had a good game, so Enzo Maresca will be pleased with what he saw from his attack.

Alan Smith could notice Alejandro Garnacho’s confidence

Towards the end of his career at Manchester United, Garnacho’s confidence definitely would have taken a hit.

The 21-year-old was in and out of Ruben Amorim’s side and started on the bench in the Europa League final.

However, against Wolves, Smith noticed some of his confidence returning after the game had barely kicked off.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the Arsenal legend said: “I think he has had an upturn in form, Garnacho. Got a goal in the week and there is a bit more confidence to his play.”

After everything that has been said about the Argentina international, he is making a great impression at Cobham.

It is thought that Garnacho has been staying behind after training to perfect his finishing. Since joining Chelsea, Garnacho has scored two goals and will be hoping to significantly add to that by working on his shooting.

One stat suggests Alejandro Garnacho doesn’t have all of his confidence back just yet

Garnacho can be more than happy with the start he has made at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are doing well, with the Blues sitting second in the Premier League table, while Garnacho has established himself as the first-choice left winger.

However, while the former United star did look more like himself on Saturday, he still seemed a bit hesitant when dribbling. Instead of trying to beat his full-back, he often played an easy pass.

In fact, according to Sofascore, Garnacho only attempted two dribbles, completing just one of them. Clearly, there is still room for improvement, but that is to be expected given his age and challenging summer.
