Cole Palmer's World Cup prospects look a lot better after what Thomas Tuchel has decided
Cole Palmer has just received some positive news in relation to his England hopes from Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea’s star man is getting back into rhythm after missing most of the season so far.
Palmer was left out of the squad to face Cardiff, with Enzo Maresca making it clear that he can’t play that frequently just yet.
He will be hoping to get back to his best sooner rather than later, though, with the World Cup just months away.
Palmer has serious competition in the England squad. Luckily, it sounds like he’s still highly regarded by Tuchel despite his extended absence.
Maresca is delighted to have his star back 🙌
How much does Cole Palmer's return raise Chelsea's ceiling this season?
Thomas Tuchel gives Palmer his second vote for FIFA Best Player
FIFA’s annual season awards took place on Tuesday evening, just hours before Chelsea’s Carabao Cup kick-off. Ousmane Dembele won FIFA Best Player to add to his Ballon d’Or honour.
Tuchel had Harry Kane as his winner, but he thinks no other player was better than Palmer last season.
When your coach has you as second-best in the world, you would naturally feel quite confident about your prospects for selection come June. Most notably, ahead of England teammate Jude Bellingham.

Palmer will have to get back on the pitch for England and show he can function in Tuchel’s desired way of playing.
But barring any serious issues, it sounds like the Chelsea star has every chance of earning a starting spot when they head across the pond.
Cole Palmer named in FIFA Best Men’s XI
Palmer was named to FIFA Best Men’s XI for his performances over last season and the summer. He is joined by Virgil Van Dijk and Gianluigi Donnarumma in representing the Premier League.
That follows a similar achievement last month when Palmer was named in the FIFPRO World XI.
How much is Cole Palmer worth?
Clearly, the Englishman’s talent is appreciated not just at Stamford Bridge but on the global stage.
Maresca got some votes for Best Manager, but it was a PSG sweep with Luis Enrique winning that award.
