How the Chelsea board really feel about Enzo Maresca's squad ahead of January transfer window - journalist
Ahead of their Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Tuesday night, Chelsea are not where they want to be.
Following their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last Saturday, Enzo Maresca‘s side find themselves sitting in fifth place in the Premier League table.
As things stand, then, Chelsea would not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
With the transfer window set to open, though, they will have the chance to strengthen their squad. Antoine Semenyo was considered by Chelsea before they swiftly ended their interest in him, so the club do not seem to be against the idea of signing a new attacker.
Chelsea could still sign a new attacker after cooling their interest in Antoine Semenyo. Who would you target, or are you content with Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens?

Chelsea think squad is good enough to finish in top four
While Chelsea may be open to bringing in another offensive player in January, supporters should still expect a quiet month.
According to journalist Kieran Gill, Chelsea are not actively looking to improve their squad and think their current crop of players are good enough to secure a top-four finish.
In a Q&A session on the Daily Mail, Gill said: “They aren’t actively looking at filling specific gaps currently. Injuries could force them into thinking otherwise, of course, but right now, they reckon their squad is competitive enough to secure this season’s goal of a top-four finish in the Premier League alongside long cup runs.”
The position that Chelsea MUST strengthen in 2026 is _ _ _ _ _ _
Any business Chelsea do in 2026 is likely to take place in the summer. Emanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda are set to join the club then, while a defender could also arrive.
It has been reported that Chelsea want to add an experienced centre-back to their ranks.

Why Chelsea could end up regretting quiet January
Right now, a lot of Chelsea fans would disagree with the club’s view of the squad. There is a lot of football left to play, but Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal look so much better than the Blues at this moment in time.
Liverpool have picked up as well and have now taken Chelsea’s spot in the top four.
When you consider all of the above, the Club World Cup winners could regret not doing anything in January, which seems to be their plan unless a good opportunity presents itself.
Semenyo has to be seen as that, but for whatever reason, Chelsea have opted against pursuing the Bournemouth winger.
