Chelsea continue to spend hundreds of millions of pounds in every transfer window, but the reality is they are no longer the football superpower they once were.
Chelsea are still doing well in the cup competitions. The Blues won two major trophies last season and have reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, where they will play Arsenal.
However, right now, Liam Rosenior’s side are eighth in the Premier League table.

Clearly, the club have been on the decline, and supporters are now blaming a variety of figures at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea Chronicle recently asked fans on TalkingPoints who is at fault for the team’s failure to challenge for the Premier League title. The responses varied.
Unsurprisingly, Behdad Eghbali was a popular answer. The Chelsea co-owner has been in the headlines recently after reportedly falling out with former manager Enzo Maresca.
Todd Boehly and Chelsea’s entire ownership group as a whole were also mentioned.
For one supporter, it is Raheem Sterling who has really hurt the club. Chelsea signed the winger from Manchester City for £50m back in 2022, but the transfer has not worked out and the Conference League winners have struggled to get rid of him.

Despite fan unrest, Chelsea will not diverge from their transfer strategy as they continue to target more young players.
Sporting directors also deserve criticism
Surprisingly, on this occasion, sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley avoided heat from Chelsea supporters here on The Chelsea Chronicle.
However, they certainly deserve criticism. They are the ones who are conducting Chelsea’s transfer business and should have the football acumen to tell their bosses that a youth-led policy in the transfer market is not going to take Chelsea to the Premier League title.
If they have and Eghbali has not listened, then like Maresca, they should also walk away from the “project”.
