'He's really good': Liam Delap is convinced Liam Rosenior will be a success at Chelsea for one crucial reason

Liam Rosenior’s first official day as Chelsea manager starts today, and the new Blues gaffer only has a couple of days to prepare his team before his first match.

Rosenior was in attendance at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night to watch his new side go down to 10 men – for the seventh time this season in all competitions – and suffer a 2-1 loss at the hands of Fulham.

There were positives on the night. Liam Delap scored his first Premier League goal for the club and Cole Palmer looks to be becoming more influential with every game he gets under his belt, after his injuries.

What must Liam Rosenior fix first? 😡

But Rosenior will have to sort out Chelsea’s ill-discipline, as well as getting Palmer back to his brilliant best. That, as well as transferring his style of play, before Chelsea face Charlton in the FA Cup third round.

Liam Delap knows why Liam Rosenior will be a success at Chelsea

The BlueCo era has not been an encouraging one for managers. Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino, and Enzo Maresca have all seen their time at Chelsea end in tears, for one reason or another.

But there is an excitement building around Rosenior, perhaps because he is up and there is a genuine hype around the former Hull gaffer. Speaking to Chelsea’s YouTube, Delap says the squad is excited.

Delap, who worked with Rosenior at Hull, believes Rosenior will be a success and explained why: “Yeah, of course [we’re excited]. We’re really thankful for what Enzo did, but we’re really excited for what’s to come.

“I know him really well, and I think he’s going to be really good with the group. Hopefully, we can really start to push on our season with him,” Delap continued, after netting his first league goal for Chelsea.

“He’s so passionate about coaching, and from a young age, it’s something he’s always wanted to do. His ideas and beliefs are good. We have so many young players, and he’s really good with young players.”

After the scenes at Fulham, where do Chelsea and Clearlake go from here?😬

Liam Rosenior must get tactical balance right at Chelsea

Rosenior has a decision to make as he embarks on getting his tactical approach across to this young Chelsea side. At Strasbourg, it was hell for leather. A nod to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, a beautiful chaos.

Man for man, running hard and long. Rosenior had a young squad at Strasbourg and managed to get the Ligue 1 side’s squad to buy into his ideas. Is that realistic when it comes to a Chelsea squad full of egos?

Julien Laurens described Rosenior’s style as “all guns blazing” before likening his risky tactics to those of former Tottenham and Forest gaffer Ange Postecoglou. While that’s a stretch, it is high-octane football.

Rosenior must decide whether he needs to be more pragmatic initially at Chelsea, or if he is bold and sticks to his principles straight off the bat. If he’s smart, he’ll let his tactics evolve naturally, over time.
