Liam Rosenior has three ‘important skills’ that could make him a ‘very good’ Chelsea manager - journalist

Liam Rosenior looks to be closing in on the Chelsea job following Enzo Maresca’s departure from Stamford Bridge.

On Saturday, it was reported that Chelsea are set to hand Rosenior a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The Blues have been searching for a new manager since New Year’s Day after parting ways with Maresca.

Liam Rosenior good at building relationships, managing up and communicating

Understandably, many Chelsea fans have their doubts about Rosenior ahead of his expected arrival at Stamford Bridge.

At 41, Rosenior is still a very young coach who does not have any experience managing at the elite level. However, after speaking to someone, journalist James Olley has heard a lot of good things about the Englishman.

Speaking on ESPN FC about Rosenior and three particular skills that he has, Olley said: “I haven’t had a lot of a chance to speak to people about him, but I did speak to somebody this morning who told me that he’s a very good relationship builder.

“He’s very good at managing up and he’s a very effective communicator. And those are important skills.”

It may not be too long until the Strasbourg manager is officially appointed Maresca’s successor. According to the reliable David Ornstein, Rosenior should be named Chelsea boss “very soon”.

Liam Rosenior has chance to win over Chelsea fans quickly

Again, Rosenior already has his doubters, so he has some convincing to do once he arrives in west London.

Because of Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures, though, it is something that the former Hull City manager may be able to do quickly.

Later this month, the Club World Cup winners face London rivals Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. Win that, and you can easily see Chelsea supporters getting behind their new head coach.

On the other hand, if they play poorly and lose to Mikel Arteta’s side, the doubts that fans currently have will not go away.

If Rosenior is appointed, which now looks to be an inevitability, it really will be interesting to see how things pan out. After how things ended with Maresca, it is quite hard to be optimistic.
