Opinion: Andrey Santos will be buzzing if new Chelsea manager rumour is true
Chelsea could have a new manager on the sideline against Man City on Sunday, and Andrey Santos will be particularly pleased if one linked manager gets the job.
Minutes have been few and far between for the Brazilian midfielder.
Santos has been tipped to leave Chelsea in 2026 due to concerns over playing time, despite only making his debut in the summer.
There might be a lifeline for the 21-year-old, though, with his old manager one of the favourites to replace Enzo Maresca.

Andrey Santos could get Strasbourg reunion with Liam Rosenior
Even before Maresca left, the man at the helm of Chelsea’s sister club was discussed for a potential step up in the future.
The need has now become immediate, and Liam Rosenior is one of the favourites for the job.
Rosenior’s move to Chelsea has hit a stumbling block, with a replacement needed for the Ligue 1 side before any move can happen. But if it does, Santos would be one of the main beneficiaries.
The two worked together at Strasbourg last season where Santos was one of the key players in the Englishman’s system. He started 32 league games, scoring ten goals and making three assists in a more advanced role.
Of course, it’s no guarantee that Rosenior will place the same amount of trust in him if he comes to Stamford Bridge, but his prospects would look much improved compared to when Maresca was at the helm.
Rosenior feels like a risk for Chelsea
There are a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Rosenior and the manager he could replace.
Maresca came to Chelsea with limited experience, and while his first campaign gave plenty to celebrate, he couldn’t find enough consistency in the Premier League.
Whoever the Blues choose to take the position, it’s not guaranteed to work, but hiring another man with just two head coach jobs on his resume feels especially risky.

A more established manager might be the better option. That said, Rosenior has done well at Strasbourg, and if he is the chosen candidate, he will have the full backing of the fans, and already some of the players as well.
