Why Chelsea have not made Enzo Maresca exit official as Stamford Bridge exit 'agreed' - journalist

It looks as if Chelsea are going to be moving into 2026 without Enzo Maresca at the helm anymore.

Maresca has been in charge for one and a half seasons, delivering both the Club World Cup and Conference League trophies to Stamford Bridge.

Despite the fact he led the Blues to their first trophies since Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali took over, it has become clear that the relationship between the two parties has broken down.

Maresca launched a scathing rant on the higher ups after their 2-0 win against Everton, and in the three league games since they are without a victory.

Enzo Maresca departure from Chelsea ‘already agreed’

It is believed that both sides are believing that a departure is the best possible way forward, and while it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the writing is on the wall.

In fact, Simon Phillips has reported on his Substack that they have already agreed to part ways, with situations such as pay outs and his replacement needing to be sorted out.

He said: “There is a feeling amongst SPTC Sources that actually, Enzo Maresca and Chelsea have already agreed to part ways and that the reason nothing has yet to be made official is because they are sorting out what they are going to do it in terms of any pay outs.

“One source has also said that actually, Chelsea are holding out on it due to trying to get the replacement lined up and in place before pulling the final trigger.”

Possible Enzo Maresca replacements

It has previously been reported that Chelsea have at least four managers on their shortlist to replace Maresca should they have accelerated their plans.

Liam Rosenior is highly admired after his work at fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg, however is still very early into his managerial career at the top level.

The club are fans of Premier League bosses Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner, with the latter set to see his contract run out at Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
