Enzo Fernandez makes one thing clear to Chelsea in the Spanish media
Enzo Fernandez has been involved in plenty of controversy in the media, but he appears to have changed his ways for Chelsea.
Enzo Fernandez finds himself at a crossroads at Chelsea, following a turbulent few months that have put his future at Stamford Bridge in doubt. Despite being a key figure with 13 goals this season, his relationship with the club became strained after he publicly expressed a desire to live in Madrid.
These comments led to a two-match internal suspension, though he recently returned to score the winning goal in the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds.
The Argentine midfielder is currently facing a standoff over contract negotiations, with his camp seeking a significant pay rise to reflect his importance.
And while he remains under contract until 2032, both Manchester City and Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Fernandez’s situation.
Enzo Fernandez approached by the Spanish press
Enzo Fernandez has been spotted in the Spanish capital this week, taking advantage of a two-day break following Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final win over Leeds.
Accompanied by teammates Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro, the Argentine was seen at the Madrid Open to support fellow countryman Francisco Cerúndolo.
Interestingly, Fernandez was approached by the Spanish media, including El Chiringuito, but he refused to even speak a word, which is a stark change from his recent antics.
Enzo Fernandez shows he’s learnt his lesson
Enzo Fernandez appears to have turned a corner regarding his public image after a rocky few months.
Following his suspension, the Argentine has been much more cautious with the media. And he even recently admitted that he has learnt his lesson and understands that his words carry significant weight at a club like Chelsea.
By keeping his head down and delivering on the pitch, most notably his match-winning goal in the FA Cup semi-final, Fernandez is slowly rebuilding trust with the fans.
