'Can do more': BBC pundit claims 23-year-old Chelsea player didn't work hard enough vs Tottenham
BBC pundit Michael Dawson has claimed on Match of the Day 2 that Joao Felix did not work hard enough to stop Tottenham scoring yesterday.
Chelsea were defeated 2-0 by Spurs yesterday, with the first goal coming just seconds after the game restarted for the second half.
The strike came from Oliver Skipp, who netted just his second career goal as he fired home from range.
Many of the Blues players will be looking at each other for their role in the opener.
Dawson has claimed that despite being on the pitch for attacking roles, Felix could have done a lot more to prevent the goal.
He said: “This is the lead up to the first goal. I can’t help but feel it’s three mistakes on the bounce there. We see Skipp smash it in from the edge of the area. But here, Fernandez – poor clearance.
Felix blamed for Spurs goal
“I think Felix can do more to fight that ball against Skipp, and then Kepa, I’d look at him. He gets a good hand on it but can he do more.”
Skipp has claimed after the game that the hosts did plenty of work in the game to try and limit Felix’s impact on the game at the other end, with them hoping to not give him the space to turn and attack.
This likely left him frustrated at the impact he was able to have on the game, as another 90 minutes went by where they didn’t find the net again.
The overall form moved to two wins in their last 15 games, as the pressure continued to rise on Graham Potter at the helm.
The consensus amongst the fanbase is that he should be sacked, but there is so far no indication that the owners will make that decision yet.
