Report: How Todd Boehly’s view on Graham Potter has changed after Chelsea’s defeat to Tottenham
Reports have claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is finally having doubts over Graham Potter as manager of the club.
According to the Daily Mail, yesterday’s result in North London was the first time where doubts began to surface over his place at the helm.
The Blues fell to another defeat yesterday, this time a damning 2-0 loss to Tottenham.
The result saw them lose for the first time at Spurs’ new stadium, with their fierce rivals taking all three points after a dominant second half.
Two wins in the club’s last 15 games is seemingly too much for the majority of Chelsea fans. The general consensus is that the manager has to go.
Up until now, every poor result has quickly been followed by claims that the owner still has the faith that he is the man who can turn things around at Stamford Bridge.
Boehly beginning to doubt Potter
However, the Daily Mail have claimed this isn’t 100% the case following defeat to their close rivals.
Chelsea have the crucial game against Borussia Dortmund to think about in just over a weeks’ time. The Champions League presents their only chance at either silverware or qualification for next years’ competition.
It is therefore perhaps reasonable to believe that the result of the tie at Stamford Bridge that night will determine whether Potter remains at the club.
The next obstacle if they did decide to change managers would be determining the replacement they would bring in.
It has been reported that the club have made contact with Mauricio Pochettino over potentially taking the job, with him currently out of work.
Roma manager Jose Mourinho has also recently made it known that he would love a return and third stint at Stamford Bridge, with his popularity undoubted.
