‘Amazing’: Unai Emery calls for Chelsea to give Todd Boehly favourite more time at Stamford Bridge
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has called for Chelsea to give Graham Potter more time to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
He told the Mail Online that the manager deserved the opportunity to take the step up from Brighton earlier this season, and that time is required for his ideas to come off at his new club.
Replacing Thomas Tuchel was never going to be an easy job for anyone in West London, and despite a bright start things have certainly not gone to plan under Potter so far.

He recently oversaw a run of two wins in 17 games, leaving supporters almost universally in agreement that his time should be up.
However, Todd Boehly’s decision to back Potter saw him remain at the club, after he was headhunted late last year.
Emery praises Potter
Emery has now claimed that the decision was justified, with Chelsea getting a fantastic coach as a result.
He said: “They [Chelsea] have very good players and their coach [Potter] is amazing. His work in Brighton was amazing and he needs time to adapt his ideas to Chelsea. Progressively, they are doing better.

“He deserved to take a step ahead with a team like Chelsea – They are progressing, and everything he did in Brighton he can do in Chelsea. He needs time, he needs matches and to know his players better.
“They played very well in the Champions League. In the Premier League, they’re not keeping the balance of being consistent in the table. For us, Saturday is a match against one of the best teams in the Premier League, with a very good coach, with very good players.”
The Blues will be looking to at least remain in the top half of the table when they welcome Villa to Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
