Chelsea officially have two of the Premier League's fastest players in their squad, one is a big surprise
Chelsea duo Mykhailo Mudryk and Denis Zakaria are two of the Premier League’s fastest players this season.
Squawka, using data from Opta, has produced a starting XI of the quickest players in each position in the Premier League this year.
Nobody will be too surprised about Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk taking the left-winger spot. The 22-year-old attacker has a top speed of 36.63km/h in the league so far after joining midway through the season.
On-loan Blues player Denis Zakaria, 26, is perhaps the big surprise inclusion in the team. The central midfielder has an eye-catching top speed of 36.09km/h this campaign.
Wesley Fofana recently claimed Mudryk is even faster than Kylian Mbappe. We would certainly love to see a sprint race between the Chelsea man and the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.
Mudryk, who does have lightning pace, has shown Chelsea fans in glimpses what he can do on a football pitch.
The Ukraine international is definitely still moving his way up to top gear following his January transfer, so Graham Potter is being a little cautious with him.
However, many want Potter to unleash him with regular starts and give him the chance to catch fire after the international break.
Zakaria should count himself unlucky that he’s not played more football recently.
The Swiss midfielder, who’s currently on loan at Chelsea from Juventus, has looked impressive when given the chance. He’s only made 10 Blues appearances all season so far, though.
There is a great athleticism to his game that makes him tailor-made for the Premier League, so perhaps he’s been underused by Chelsea so far.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Chelsea are unlikely to activate the clause to sign Zakaria permanently this summer.
However, we think he would be a great signing for a lot of rival Premier League teams.
