‘Been briefing’: People close to 24-year-old Chelsea man don’t think the club value him enough – journalist

Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that people close to Mason Mount have told him that he is not being valued enough by Chelsea.

He told GiveMeSport that the situation regarding him being unhappy stems back to over a year ago.

Things are currently at a standstill regarding a new contract for Mount, although it does appear that both parties would ideally like the player to stay at the club.

However, there is real belief for the first time in his long period as a Chelsea player that the 24-year-old could be on the move at the end of the season.

He won’t be short on suitors if he is to leave, with plenty of elite sides already reportedly interested in striking a deal.

Despite his poor form this season, selling Mount would be a massive loss. It should be remembered that he is currently the defending and two-time player of the year at Stamford Bridge.

Mount feels underappreciated

However, Brown has said that the England international may have been informed by those close to him that he is not being given the treatment he deserves.

He said: “Mount’s situation has been rumbling around for a lot longer than people think. I think the first story about his contract and being unhappy started to surface over a year ago, people forget that.

“This situation has been brewing for quite a long time. People around him have been briefing that they don’t feel he’s valued highly enough by Chelsea.”

With an influx of January signings joining the club to potentially play in a position that Mount would have before, it’s not difficult to see why he feels he has been disrespected.

With Joao Felix impressing on loan so far, there may be an ambition for the club to bring him in permanently, which could ultimately see the end of Mount’s time at Chelsea.
