Chelsea now admire 49-year-old manager who has never won any major trophies in his entire career - journalist

Chelsea reportedly like Brentford manager Thomas Frank, but the owners are sticking with Graham Potter for now.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea have a list of potential manager targets.

It’s interesting that Brentford’s Frank, 49, is shortlisted alongside some high-profile names.

Phillips does add that the Blues have yet to make any managerial approaches, though, as they persist with Potter.

“I know the club have also been keen on Ruben Amorim from Sporting, Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Frank of Brentford, and there will be others. All clubs will have a list just in case, the same as they do for players,” Phillips told his Substack.

“I’ve not yet heard of any approaches for any new managers though, as of now.”

After Chelsea’s defeat to Tottenham on the weekend, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Blues ownership continues to back Potter.

We’re not too surprised to hear a series of managers now linked to Stamford Bridge, though.

Things are starting to get pretty loud in a frustrated Chelsea fanbase, so how much longer can the board hold their nerve for?

Thomas Frank profile

It’s very interesting to learn Chelsea admire Frank, who actually has plenty of similarities to Potter.

The Brentford boss, who does have a promotion with the Bees on his CV, has never actually won a major trophy in his entire managerial career.

However, the former Brondby manager has earned a glowing reputation in recent times in the English game.

The Danish coach currently has Brentford punching well above their weight in the Premier League, which they’re doing while playing some eye-catching and attacking football.

However, some Chelsea fans may hope the club return to a serial-winning manager if Potter does leave.
