‘Intends to leave’: Club legend believes their manager would move to Chelsea if Graham Potter was sacked
Former Roma star Antonio Cassano has claimed to Bobo TV via Sport Witness that manager Jose Mourinho would move to Chelsea if the opportunity came up.
Graham Potter is under immense pressure at Stamford Bridge after overseeing a run of two wins in the club’s last 17 games.
Two recent defeats to bottom of the league Southampton and arch-rivals Tottenham have left supporters completely out of patience, and wanting the manager gone.
However, reports have claimed that the owners are currently still hoping to be able to give Potter time.
This has not stopped the rumour mill suggesting that a number of managers in world football could be on the agenda if a change is needed to be made in West London.
One of those who has been linked with the job is Mourinho. It would be his third stint at Stamford Bridge if he was to return.
Cassano tips Mourinho to Chelsea
Roma legend Cassano has claimed that he would not bother trying to hire him if he was at any other club, due to his personal desire to return to Chelsea.
He said: “If Inzaghi were to be fired, I would rule out the return of Jose Mourinho. If an offer from the Premier League were to arrive, the Special One would choose England.
“The fans fell in love with his attitude (in Italy), but he intends to leave, and for me, he can only go back to Chelsea.”
The reports suggest that Graham Potter is being given a couple of games to save his career at Chelsea, with the fixtures including the crucial Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.
He will be forced to take on the Bundesliga side without key defender Thiago Silva, which may see him tempted to change formation to try and get the best out of what he has available.
