Chelsea player's commitment to loan club questioned by local media after spending so much time in London
On-loan Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has reportedly been taking his time in London to nurse an injury despite Lyon manager Laurent Blanc expecting a quick recovery.
The 19-year-old signed for Chelsea for a reported €35million (close to £31m) in the January transfer window but Lyon managed to secure a loan deal to keep the player for the rest of the season.
It was supposed to be a win-win situation for both clubs. Chelsea got the deal over the line before potential competitions in the summer, while Lyon kept their squad intact until the end of the season.
Unfortunately, Gusto sustained a hamstring injury not long after in early February.
While Lyon agreed to send Gusto to recover at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, their manager Blanc was initially optimistic that it was only a minor injury.

“We have a problem with Malo,” the former France manager said last month.
“He injured his hamstring a few days ago and he recovered.
“He didn’t reinjure himself; it wasn’t a tear.
“[But] he still has discomfort. You must treat it well but it’s not much.
“I hope that OL and Chelsea will show common sense.
“In any case, he’s not fit to play a Ligue 1 match, it’s better to wait. But he could be on the bench.”
Well, Gusto has yet to feature since his injury and according to Foot Mercato it remains unclear when he will return to Lyon.
The French outlet adds that, instead of rushing his return, the right-back is working to get 100 per cent fit for the start of the next season.
He has also used this opportunity to get closer to his new Chelsea teammates in the dressing room.
Foot Mercato claims that Gusto is still committed to his loan spell at Lyon and will eventually return, although the media is questioning his priorities.
