'It's not normal': Hernan Crespo claims 22-year-old has done something very unusual at Chelsea

Hernan Crespo has told The Athletic that Enzo Fernandez’s meteoric rise at Chelsea is not normal.

The World Cup winner joined the club on deadline day of the January transfer window, with the Blues breaking their record for a signing.

Chelsea were not put off by the tough negotiation tactics used by Benfica, after being locked in talks to sign him all month.

It has since become obvious why the club were so keen on bringing him in. He has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge with alarming speed.

The World Cup winner has proven his quality with a pair of glorious assists. He recently set up Kai Havertz against Leicester City on their way to a 3-1 victory.

It has been claimed that his close family back in Argentina have been stunned at the rapid rise to the top of his game Fernandez has enjoyed.

Now, former international Crespo has claimed: “It’s not normal” for a player to be as impressive as he is already.

With Fernandez set to be a key part of the Blues squad for a number of seasons now, it is time to find the perfect player to play alongside him.

It is likely that the 22-year-old will have the chance to partner N’golo Kante at Stamford Bridge very soon.

The Frenchman hasn’t featured since August, although has returned to training in recent weeks.

Graham Potter has already claimed that the aim is for him to feature in some capacity in the Premier League match against Everton, which is the Blues’ next game at the weekend.
