‘He told us’: Enzo Fernandez shares what Frank Lampard has told the Chelsea players before Real Madrid game
Enzo Fernandez has claimed that Frank Lampard has told the Chelsea squad about the 2012 Champions League victory he achieved as a player came at his worst moment at the club.
The player said in his pre-match press conference that the story is a great example to those players who are suffering with a similar kind of moment.
Fernandez joined the club in January and has started every game since as Chelsea have desperately tried to rescue any sort of form this season.

This hasn’t yet been achieved domestically. The Blues still sit in the bottom half of the table in the Premier League.
They have instead used the Champions League as their competition to impress in so far. A turnaround victory over Borussia Dortmund in the last round was arguably their best display of the season.
Lampard inspiring Chelsea players
With the European campaign holding all of their hopes for the season, it is not a surprise that parallels to the 2012 campaign have cropped up.
Chelsea finished 6th that season, however victory in the final against Bayern Munich 11 years ago rescued the season completely.

Fernandez has now claimed that the current crop has been inspired by the stories told by the temporary boss about that tournament.
He said: “Frank talked with the group a bit and he told us to keep our heads straight. Chelsea is a club with a huge history. He told us he won the Champions League in 2012, and he mentioned it was in his worst moment at Chelsea. A great example for us.”
Fernandez will almost certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet tonight as the Blues look to carry out an underdog victory and book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
