Conor Gallagher has detailed Frank Lampard’s game plan for Chelsea against Wolves, with the Cobham-raised midfielder admitting that there’s a lot of work to be done.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Gallagher revealed that Lampard directed players to play with personality and to bring intensity to their match against Wolves. However, it was the same old story for Chelsea as the Blues lost 1-0 thanks to a Matheus Nunes wondergoal.
With Lampard only being appointed days before the Wolves clash, it makes sense why the English coach is yet to impend his methods into his new players, yet Gallagher is seemingly aware that he and his teammates he make the starting XI should be doing better.
The Blues remain in the bottom half of the table, and with a slim chance at the UEFA Champions League the only thing to play for this season, Gallagher knows that he and the Chelsea squad have to get their form back into gear if they’re to salvage anything from this campaign.
The England international said: “He wanted us to play with personality and intensity, and it just didn’t click. The quality of the squad we have, we should be winning a lot more than we are. We have to keep working hard and looking where we can improve, and hopefully it can improve and we can start winning games where we should be.”
