‘He was available’: Bruno shares why 24-year-old did not play for Chelsea last night against Liverpool
Interim Chelsea coach Bruno Saltor has claimed that Mason Mount did not feature last night due to it being so soon since he returned from injury.
He told journalist Carrie Brown for beIN SPORTS that the England international is certain to feature in upcoming games however.
Bruno’s first match in temporary charge of the club made it look as if the managerial change had not taken place.

The Blues threatened a lot but failed to score yet again, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by a much-rotated Liverpool side.
With a new man making the team selections, it was expected that Mount would at least feature in some way last night.
However, Bruno has claimed that with him only just returning from injury, they made the decision not to risk him against Liverpool.
Bruno explains Mount absence
He said: “He was available, but he’s coming back from an injury. It’s always challenging bringing players back from injury. He can play in different positions, he’s a great player. We love him.
“He’s a leader. He loves the club. You can see he’s an important player for us. He will have minutes for sure with anyone.”

While it was not mentioned by the interim manager, it’s hard to believe that the elephant in the room regarding Mount’s current contract talks have had some sort of effect on his playing time.
The 24-year-old is currently at a standstill regarding a new deal that will extend his stay beyond the summer of 2024.
With Todd Boehly’s desire to not allow any players to enter the last year of their contracts at Stamford Bridge, it is likely that a decision is made this summer either way regarding where Mount plays his football next season.
