Julian Nagelsmann wants to know a couple of things before agreeing to take the Chelsea job.
According to The Times, Julian Nagelsmann is currently in talks with Chelsea about becoming their new manager.
It is understood that the 35-year-old manager, along with his agency, want to know the long-term plans at Stamford Bridge. They are keen to find out how much authority the German boss would actually get, too.
The report explains that Bayern continue to pay him a “lucrative salary” despite leaving the Allianz Arena last month.
Nagelsmann could also be interested in the Real Madrid job if it becomes available in the summer, too.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea and Nagelsmann will continue more discussions today. Luis Enrique is an alternative managerial target still in the race, though.
Nagelsmann may have departed German heavyweights Bayern mid-season, but he’s still a very exciting young manager.
He guided Bayern to yet another Bundesliga title during the 2021/22 campaign. He left them second in the league and in a Champions League quarter-final this season, too.
His reputation as one of the world’s brightest young coaches started with spells at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. He’s now experienced pressure at a super club like Bayern as well.
We are delighted to hear plenty of speculation flying around Nagelsmann.
There is nothing concrete yet to suggest he will certainly be the next Chelsea boss, though.
Foot Mercato recently claimed that Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell is pushing for Nagelsmann, who he worked alongside at Leipzig.
Will Nagelsmann feel he’ll get enough room from the Chelsea hierarchy to implement his own plans?
