‘How?’: Callum Wilson can’t believe Chelsea were able to sign 28-year-old player this season
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has claimed that he was stunned that Manchester City sold Raheem Sterling to Chelsea.
He said on ‘The Footballers Football Podcast’ that the fact that they were able to replace him with free-scoring Erling Haaland backs up their decision to sell a player a quality of the 28-year-old.
Sterling was the marquee signing of Todd Boehly’s first window in charge of the club, following his recent induction into the Premier League ‘100 club’.

An embarrassment of riches available to Pep Guardiola saw the England international look to move elsewhere in an attempt to become the star of the show.
It’s fair to say things have not gone too well since he made the move to London.
Just a handful of goals in all competitions have seen the signing not seem to have worked out, despite the promise it brought last summer.
Wilson can’t believe Sterling signing
Wilson has claimed that it was still a fantastic coup for the Blues due to the talents he has shown at the Etihad over the past few seasons.
He said: “It’s got to a point now where City are selling someone like Sterling, where you are like – how are they selling Raheem Sterling?

“Then they go and end up buying Haaland and put him in a different position, and he scores a ridiculous number of goals, so it transforms them in a different way. And they are still trying to make money on their investments, so it’s clever.”
The demise of the signing was summed up when he was ironically jeered off the pitch when he was substituted in the last Premier League game against Brighton.
With very little to play for this season, a younger core of players may be selected instead of Sterling for the rest of the campaign.
