Report: Chelsea are already prepared to sell their £33m player, he only joined them last year
Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now ready to sell Kalidou Koulibaly as part of a summer clear-out.
According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are now happy to cash in on the 31-year-old despite him only joining the club less than a year ago.
Koulibaly joined the club for £33m with plenty of fanfare after a series of sensational seasons in Italy, with it perceived he would be leaving a large void in the Napoli defence.
Ironically, the Serie A side are now running away with things in their league, as they close in on the title.
Meanwhile, the Senegal international has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, seeing him not become the regular at the back that he would have hoped to be.
Chelsea want to sell Koulibaly
He has not proven to be the instant impact supporters were hoping for at the back, and the club’s antics in the Janaury transfer market suggests those thoughts are echoed by Chelsea.
They signed Benoit Badiashile in the winter transfer window, and although he was unable to feature in the crucial Champions League games, has impressed whenever he has been given the opportunity to feature.
There is also the returning Levi Colwill to think about. A fantastic loan spell at overachievers Brighton will certainly leave him wanting first time football at the highest level next season.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea really don’t want to sell the young Englishman, and instead see him as a cornerstone of their future.
This could perhaps back up why they are ready to cash in on Koulibaly, however the report has stated they will struggle to move him on due to his high wages and the fact that he doesn’t actually want to leave Stamford Bridge.
