'I'm still told': Fabrizio Romano claims young manager is ahead of two other Chelsea candidates
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann remains the leading candidate to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager ahead of Luis Enrique and Ruben Amorim, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier, The Times claimed that Chelsea co-sporting directors; Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, held an in-person meeting with Nagelsmann on Thursday.
The report mentioned that Stewart is among the Chelsea chiefs who believe Nagelsmann ticks a lot of boxes, but the club have yet to make any decision about the preferred candidate.
Romano, however, claims that Nagelsmann is so far leading the race for the Chelsea seat.
“I’m still told that Julian Nagelsmann remains the leading candidate,” the Italian journalist said on YouTube when speaking about Chelsea’s search for a new permanent manager.
“Nagelsmann has many [admirers] in the Chelsea board and is really appreciated by the directors.
“He had already had positive conversations [with Chelsea] in the last few weeks.”
Romano also explained that Luis Enrique is also still on Chelsea’s list and he sees the Spaniard as the second favourite after Nagelsmann.

“Enrique has also been approached by some national teams, so this could be the possibility if he does not become the new Chelsea manager,” he added.
Behind these two, Romano claims that Chelsea have Sporting’s Ruben Amorim.
However, the Blues will have to wait until the end of the season before having any chance of acquiring the highly-rated Portuguese.
This is unlikely to be a problem because as it stands, Frank Lampard will stay as a caretaker manager until the end of the season.
