‘I’m told’: Chelsea now confident 24-year-old will accept their latest contract offer – journalist
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea are optimistic about the chances of Mason Mount agreeing to their latest terms and signing a new contract.
He told GiveMeSport that the club are mainly focusing on seeing him return to full fitness after an extended period where he has been unable to start.
Talks in recent weeks have reached a standstill between Mount and the club regarding a new deal.

For the first time since becoming a regular in the first team, the 24-year-old is still believed by many to be on the move at the end of the season.
The potential of a transfer has seen plenty of suitors come to the reported forefront. Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all reportedly expressed interest in bringing him in.
Chelsea optimistic about keeping Mount
Phillips however has claimed that there is now a newfound confidence at Stamford Bridge that Mount may well still sign a new deal.
He said: “Right now, I’m told that the focus is on getting Mount back to full fitness and back to better form. We saw him come in against Real Madrid and he was of the only players that looked like a threat for Chelsea.

“That’s what Chelsea want right now, they just want him to be on the pitch and playing well, but the talks will come and Chelsea are feeling a little bit more optimistic that the new set of terms that they’re going to put on the table will hopefully be accepted by Mason Mount.”
It doesn’t feel like it needs saying anymore, but the qualities Mount has are certain to strengthen a direct rival if Chelsea do decide to sell the Englishman.
It would be far wiser waiting to see how the new permanent manager decides the use the midfielder when he eventually gets the job.
