Journalist Olivia Buzaglo has tweeted a photo of Thiago Silva and Mason Mount being the last players out and clapping supporters following Chelsea’s defeat tonight.
The Blues had the full support of Stamford Bridge last night as they looked to achieve the near-impossible by turning around their Champions League quarter-final with Real Madrid.
After a 2-0 defeat at the Bernabeu, many will have been hoping for Frank Lampard to choose an adventurous side who could outscore their opponents on their best day.

They may well have been disappointed then to see a line-up which only consisted of Kai Havertz as a recognised attacker, flanked by Conor Gallagher and N’golo Kante.
However, it was the Blues who created the most in the first half. Kante and Marc Cucurella both had great chances to send the stadium crazy with opening goals.

Missed opportunities costed the Premier League side yet again, and a quick-fire Rodrygo double in the second half put the tie to bed.
It was easy to see why the supporters were gutted at full-time. The Champions League held the club’s only chance at rescuing anything from what has been a dire season from start to finish.
After giving the players everything to try and turn the tie around, they were particularly appreciated by Silva and Mount, who stayed out longer than any of their teammates to thank the crowd for their efforts.
Silva started the game as captain as he continues to ease his way back into the side following injury, with fears that he may well have played his last Champions League game.
Mount meanwhile was not selected from the start again, although his ability to press alongside his attacking capabilities create the question as to why he was not trusted if he is fully fit.
