Report: Chelsea are looking at signing £60m striker, with Mauricio Pochettino about to come in as manager

Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino may have his first potential signing for Chelsea lined-up already.

According to the Mail Online, Rasmus Hojlund is linked with a move to Chelsea, and that remains despite news of a new manager being close to being announced.

Pochettino has emerged as the new favourite for the job in recent days after a number of previous candidates fell to the wayside.

Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique had been deemed to be leading the race for the role pretty much ever since the decision to sack Graham Potter.

However, Enrique began to impress less in recent meetings, seeing him removed from the list of top candidates.

Then, the former Bayern Munich boss began to get concerned that the job had not yet been handed his way, and he was fearing that he may lose out as new candidates emerged.

Hojlund could join Chelsea

This has cleared the path for Pochettino to close in on the job, with attention turning to what his plan may be when he arrives at Stamford Bridge.

With players certain to be coming in over the summer, it will be interesting to see how much influence the new boss has on who enters.

One player who has been linked with a move is Hojlund, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at the top level with Atalanta this season.

His stature and performances have seen him compared to a number of top players in his position, including Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen.

The deal is likely not to come cheap if the Blues want to sign the young striker. It has been claimed it may cost up to £60m to sign him.

However, it is clear that the club do need the position to be addressed before next season.
