‘Had a problem’: Marcel Desailly has one concern over Mauricio Pochettino becoming the next Chelsea manager

Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has claimed he does have a concern about Mauricio Pochettino becoming the next permanent manager.

He told London World that his inability to deal with the top-quality players at PSG does worry him, although he believes he could be the right man for Chelsea.

It looks a case of when not if for Pochettino to be announced as the new manager at Stamford Bridge for next season.

A lengthy recruitment process has taken place since Graham Potter has been sacked, whilst Frank Lampard has done his best to steady the metaphorical Titanic in West London.

This has not been a successful voyage so far. The win last weekend was their first in the seven games since the Englishman took over on a temporary basis.

This has left supporters calling out for the new manager to be appointed, and at least give them a hint of optimism going into the new season.

Desailly concern over Pochettino

Pochettino is the name many expect to be announced soon, however Desailly has issued an element of concern over the potential appointment.

He said: “Handling top-class players was something difficult for him. He had a problem there. But for Chelsea to rebuild and create a winning mentality, he could be the correct man.”

Reports have already begun to circulate over who the potential new manager is seeing as an important member of his team going into next season.

These have included Mason Mount and N’golo Kante. The Argentine has even seemingly told the club to reopen negotiations with the Englishman over a new contract.

It will be interesting to see how much Pochettino has learned from his time in Paris with the egos that no manager has quite yet managed to contain.
