‘He’s thinking’: Agbonlahor thinks he knows what Pochettino is thinking about Chelsea squad after Arsenal loss
Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that he thinks he knows what Mauricio Pochettino was thinking after Chelsea lost to Arsenal.
He told TalkSPORT that the Argentine will have been looking at players he will need to get rid of before their performances cost him his job.
That is exactly the fate that met Graham Potter just over a month ago, as his time at Stamford Bridge was mercifully brought to an end in its first season.
While the former Brighton man will be the first to admit that his time at the club was a huge failure, it should not be forgotten that the performances from the players were not up to scratch.
There were very few that Potter could rely on for strong performances every week, shown by the chop and change nature of his management style.
Pochettino will want players gone
The quality has not gone up since the managerial change, with the club yet to win since replacing him.
Pochettino is currently the heavy favourite to take over the club for next season, with negotiations still at an advanced stage for him to become the manager.
Agbonlahor has now claimed that he believes the former Tottenham boss will already be making a list of the players he will not want in his side.
He said: “If Pochettino’s coming in, he’s going to be looking at a lot of these players thinking ‘I’m gonna have to get rid of you because you’re gonna get rid of me as well.”
While it is unclear which players the pundit is talking about, it is not difficult to work out which players the club are looking to get rid of this summer, even if some of them have not even been at the club for a year yet.
