'It is not fair': Unlike Klopp, Mikel Arteta believes Chelsea's recent spending spree not a failure yet
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes Chelsea already have the quality in their squad to bounce back despite the disappointing outcome of their recent transfer spree so far.
Jurgen Klopp recently made headlines for his comments about Chelsea’s current situation.
The Liverpool manager pointed out how it is “good” that Chelsea’s case shows that a team cannot just throw top players together and expect it to work out well without proper planning.
“You have to build a team and that’s what the guys there [at Chelsea] underestimated and gave their coaches a nearly impossible job to do,” Klopp added.
Arteta was, unsurprisingly, asked a similar question during Monday’s press conference before Chelsea’s visit to the Emirates Stadium.
However, instead of pointing out what went wrong with Chelsea’s approach, he reminded everyone that what many see as questionable transfer decisions still leave the club with quality players who can turn their situation around.

“Next season they may get 100 points – we don’t know,” the Arsenal boss said when speaking about Chelsea’s recent spending spree (via Arsenal’s official website).
“With all that exceptional talent, if they make that work they can do anything because they have the players, the infrastructure, and the history to do it.
“I cannot assess what is right and what is wrong because you cannot assess in two months when they’ve made those changes, it is not fair.”
Both Klopp and Arteta could still prove to be right.
Klopp spoke about the short-term issues with signing so many players, which has undeniably had a big impact on Chelsea’s performance, while Arteta highlighted the long-term benefit.
Football is a fickle game.
If Chelsea managed to compete for the trophies again next season, we would hear how their board cleverly gave their team extra months of an adaptation period by signing them last January instead of the summer.
