Report: £30m Chelsea player loves Mauricio Pochettino, he could stay at Stamford Bridge now

Reports have claimed that Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante is a big admirer of Mauricio Pochettino.

According to The Telegraph, the potential decision to hire the Argentine as manager could be a key factor in the Frenchman signing a new contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

It is expected to be announced this week that Chelsea are going to fill the void of permanent manager with Pochettino, more than a month after Graham Potter was sacked.

The in-tray awaiting the Argentine is no doubt a daunting one, especially given how the club’s season deteriorated under the former Brighton man.

Potter was not helped by an extensive list of injuries during his time at Stamford Bridge, with him only having Kante available for mere minutes.

The Frenchman has been a crucial member of the side since his £30m move from Leicester in 2016, and reports that he could be on the move at the end of the season are no doubt concerning for supporters.

The 31-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with negotiations underway for some time over a potential extension.

Chelsea are likely to want to tie him down to a new deal after seeing Jorginho leave on the cheap back in January when his contract was running down.

However, the reports that Kante and Pochettino are admirers of each other’s work is the biggest indicator yet that the France international will commit his future to the club.

With the Blues looking to invest in a midfielder this summer, there will not be many better to learn from than the Frenchman as they look to adapt and become the long-term partner to club-record signing Enzo Fernandez.
