‘Wait and see’: Todd Boehly may break his own rule to keep 24-year-old at Chelsea - journalist
Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Todd Boehly may be prepared to break his own rule in order to keep Mason Mount at Chelsea.
He told GiveMeSport that the owner may be willing to offer a short-term contract to the 24-year-old in order to give the two parties more time to discuss him staying.
Plenty of reports this season have given indication that Mount could be on the move at the end of the season.

He will be entering the last 12 months of his contract, which has been frequently mentioned as the cut-off for when Boehly wants players to have made decisions by regarding their future.
Recent negotiations under the American have often resulted in Chelsea players tying themselves down to long-term deals, including key players Reece James and Enzo Fernandez.
Boehly may break rule for Mount
Now, Jacobs has claimed that Boehly may go against this previous rule to keep Mount on their books for a bit longer.
He said: “We’re going to have to now wait and see because Chelsea may find a halfway house. They may find a way to extend in the shorter term to buy them more time in the longer term.

“They may just strike a deal with Mount in the end. So Chelsea haven’t given up, Mount hasn’t decided, and that is the reality of the situation.”
Boehly may be hoping that Mount will stay for a period of time that allows a new manager to come in and see if he wishes to make the player a key member of his side again.
Mauricio Pochettino is the reported favourite for the job, and it has already been claimed that he is looking to get the most out of the England international at Stamford Bridge.
