Report: Chelsea are now set to make huge decision for next season in the coming days

Reports have claimed that Chelsea are set to make a decision on who will become the next permanent manager at the club in the next few days.

According to The Athletic, the search is set to come to an end this week for who will take over the squad going into next season.

It has always been claimed in recent weeks that Mauricio Pochettino has been the clear favourite for the job, after a number of other candidates fell to the wayside.

Both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique were originally touted for the job, however for their own reasons both fell out of consideration for the role.

This cleared the path for a shortlist headed by the Argentine, which also reportedly included Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

The recently promoted Belgian will be at Stamford Bridge next season, however only as a visiting boss after signing a new contract with Burnley.

Chelsea to announce manager this week

Supporters have been hoping for an announcement recently in an attempt to bring some hope ahead of next season, in what is currently a dire time to be part of the fanbase.

Frank Lampard’s temporary time in charge of the club has not had the desired effect, with him coming in and beginning with six consecutive losses.

The Blues did at least find a win at the weekend against Bournemouth, as some of the players look to do what they can to convince the next manager that they should be part of his plans.

One player who is certainly succeeding at this right now is Noni Madueke, who has enjoyed consecutive impressive performances against Arsenal and the Cherries.

The England U21 international is sure to be a constant in the thoughts of Lampard for the remaining games this season.
