Report: Mauricio Pochettino will urge Chelsea to keep their 24-year-old player as soon as he gets the job
Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is going to ask Chelsea to keep Mason Mount at the club when he gets the manager’s job.
According to the Evening Standard, the Argentine is going to ask the club to enter negotiations again with the 24-year-old over a new contract.
It is widely expected to be a case of when rather than if Pochettino becomes the next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.

He has emerged as the only real candidate for the job, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique falling by the wayside during the recruitment process.
Reports have already emerged over some of the players that the former Tottenham coach will want to base his team around, and what system he will look to operate them in.
Pochettino wants new Mount contract
N’golo Kante is one midfielder that the prospective new boss is keen to use, as he looks to line up with a back four next season.
Another player who has been mentioned as potentially crucial to his plans is Mount, although there is no guarantee he will even be at the club after the upcoming transfer window.

There is still a large gap in the demands of both parties when discussing a new contract, as the player prepares to enter the final year of his deal.
It is widely expected that owner Todd Boehly will not be allowing players to reach that stage of their contract anymore, meaning he will either need to agree an extension or be sold in the upcoming transfer window.
With claims that Pochettino is already asking the club to keep him, there should be a real effort made to come to an agreement with Mount, who has proven for more than two seasons just how important he is to the side when fully fit and firing.
