'Very likely': £50m star may have played his last game for Chelsea and is set to be sold this summer - journalist

Mateo Kovacic has probably played his last ever game for Chelsea, according to reports.

Mateo Kovacic, 29, came off the bench during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United yesterday on the final day of the Premier League season. It turns out that may be his final Blues appearance, too.

Journalist Rudy Galetti reports that it’s “very likely” Kovacic will be sold by Chelsea this summer.

It is understood that the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all interested in the Croatian midfielder

This comes after recent claims from The Sun that Chelsea will demand around £50million this summer to sell Kovacic.

Rudy Galetti has delivered a fresh update on Kovacic’s future:

“Mateo Kovacic is very likely to leave Chelsea in the summer. He is really appreciated by some Premier League clubs, such as Manchester City and Newcastle, but he also has admirers abroad,” Galetti told GiveMeSport.

“At the moment, PSG are very interested in him and the evolution that should take place at the Parisian club in the summer could start with signing the former Inter and Real Madrid player.

“Let’s pay attention to the Bundesliga as well, with Bayern Munich tracking him. Some Serie A clubs are monitoring him, even if his return to Italy seems difficult at the moment.”

If Kovacic has finished his Chelsea career, he should reflect with real pride on what he’s done in West London.

The central midfielder spent a year on loan with the Blues before signing on a permanent basis in 2019.

He’s a Champions League winner with Chelsea, which goes alongside the three European prizes he won at Real Madrid. Also, he won the Europa League during his first season with the Blues.

Chelsea’s midfield engine has been built around Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the last few seasons.

We wish Kovacic the best if he does leave and can’t wait to see a brand new era in Chelsea’s midfield.
